Closer by Patrick Marber

In Closer, Patrick Marber has created a brilliant exploration into the brutal anatomy of modern romance, where a quartet of strangers meet, fall in love, and become caught up in a web of sexual desire and betrayal. This was the second professional Canadian production of Closer.

Critical Response

Closer focuses with a laser-like intensity on the push and pull of the relationships, the brutal power plays, the triumphs and surrenders. Richard Wolfe’s production does a good job of charting the changing sexual and romantic dynamics.
Christopher Dafoe, Vancouver Sun

“This Western Theatre Conspiracy production of Patrick Marber’s play is mud pies for grownups. Everyone ends up dirty. … Acidic wit … nasty honesty …interesting perspectives…”
Jo Ledingham, Vancouver Courier
